How was your summer? We have all heard that question. It’s a common question asked this time of year, and someone recently posed the question to me. I am sure they were asking about vacations and recreational activities, but a single word came to my mind—impactful!

That word does not describe the outcomes of my actions alone; it describes our chapter, Sigma Mu Lambda (SML). During a period of well-deserved rest for most chapters within our fraternity, the brothers of SML elected to keep our hands on the plow and do the work to advance the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in Montgomery and Chester Counties!

POTTSTOWN, Pa. - Folks who didn't have all the fixins to have a Memorial Day picnic got a special treat Wednesday in Pottstown.

The food pantry at Bethel Community Church packed bags of groceries to give out to those who need them.

They distributed 150 bags stuffed with black Angus hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, baked beans, ketchup and mustard and apples.

They say Pottstown has been hit hard by the coronavirus crisis.

"Communities like Pottstown are ravaged by the pandemic. That combined with people being locked in, being able to give the food to the people who need the food and provide some relief is really important, we think," said Gerald Baron with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

He said a lot of people in Pottstown have lost their jobs, been furloughed, or been hit with pay cuts.
